Just FYI. We have some homemade pancetta, guanciale, and bacon in the works. We had a taste of the pancetta last night and it was awesome.

Thanks fer the info Sir. Yeah, I was looking at the stinkpads also. Kinda like the tablet one but haven’t really heard anything good about them.

Holy Crap! Didn’t even think about a refurb Macbook, that’s a great idea, along with the education discount.

The problem is you’re going to be spending top dollar if you want a laptop that’s going to compete with a Mac. The only competitors, imho, are Thinkpads and the higher-end HPs.

What you might consider is a refurbished Macbook (or MBP, if you so desire). They’re cheaper and just as good as new ones.

Also, as an aside, when you order your laptop tell them you’re a student at a major University. When I called to order I was going to do it under my company’s purchase program. I mentioned I was going back to school, and the salesman said “Oh, well just go for the education discount; you’ll save more than your purchase program.” No joke, saved like $100 over what I would have spent on my MBP with my company’s program. Every computer company worth their salt is offering massive discounts for students to get them brand-hooked early on (Apple is winning).

Mon dieu. Brother, you’re worse about updating this place than I am about posting to my LJ.

I gotta say, I’ve tried the actual Firefox 3 release and… it’s ok. Certainly it’s better than Firefox has been for a while, but… it’s a lot slower than I expected.

And the memory footprint? Yeeesh. My work did a forced upgrade to IE-7 and while I really don’t like the aesthetics of it, I’ve got 3 tabs open in it and my Windoze processes tab on the Task Manager says it’s using 3,128K
Firefox has doesn’t have any additional tabs open and is at 41,888 K.

you forgot the worst part: a huge chunk of users are simply the same person under different aliases. If L33tPwnr01 submits an article that bashes on Hillary Clinton, he’ll digg it, logon to L33tPwnr02, digg it, logon to 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10 until his stupid submission has enough votes to count as a “legitimate” article.

digg is stupid and all its members are simple
