A lot of people I work with swear by this crap. I got in a fight with an idiot coworker last year because I refused to take it before a flight (true story).
On NPR today they were doing the “This is good news/this is bad news/this is not news” thing on Airborne. One of the commentators said “This is bad news because it besmirches the name of holistic medicines”. Wrong - holistic medicines besmirch their own names when they make outrageous claims. They need to be held up to the same scrutiny as ‘real’ drugs.

This also reminds me of the common belief that being wet outside in the cold will lead to a cold.
There was a study done in England where a few hundred folks volunteered to get sprayed down in freezing weather and stand outside for a good period of time. When their rates of illness were compared against the control group, there was no statistical difference.
