Still, it is arguable whether those calls contributed to the final score. Bottom line: Seattle failed badly in their execution (dumb penalties, inability to score six from the red zone, poor clock management). Another worthy note: no other team in Super Bowl history that had more yards, more time of possession, less turnovers and a better QB rating has ever lost the big game. Polamalu was a little off, but he did have an ankle injury and did not participate in the team's final practice. To add, the commercials were lackluster this year. There were some commercials that were not new, some really sucked (Pepsi, BK) and some were pretty good (Budweiser, banking/financial services companies). I was worried during the first half, Seattle really looked and played tough and Pittsburg just couldn't seem to get things happening. I know that the Pitt doesn't usually wake up until the third quarter so I wasn't too worried. What I found troubling though was how strongly the Pitt had played in the previous three games...they were definitely alive and kicking during the first half yet for some reason couldn't do that this time. There may have been a bad call on the touchdown that Roethlisberger put on the board...I dunno, to me it looked like the ball crossed the plane before his elbow touched down (but there could be a bias there) and I think it was right for Holmgren to have the play reviewed. The official couldn't tell so the play on the field was upheld. Eh, sometimes these things happen. The Pitt still would have (maybe) won if that touchdown had been ruled invalid but I think that it really charged the team up and created a momentum for them. I was looking for some big plays by Polamalu but it seems like the Seattle offense was ready for him and they steered their game around him, making him seem like so much fluffy hair in a costume with nowhere to go. Overall...I think that the game was okay. Seattle was playing hard but ultimately couldn't follow through, even though their time of possesion was much greater than that of Pittsburg (double?). I'm not sure what happened because I think the Pitt could have easily been beat, they didn't seem to be trying very hard.
