Yes, I know it’s just a robe that you wear backwards. I still like it though.
I no longer get NBC because of the stupid digital box thingy. Now I can’t watch the SuperBowl. I am, as they say, extremely stabby. Extremely.
I have been wrestling with getting a wireless card to work under Ubuntu. We’re not talking about some weird card that nobody has heard of, this is a card that actually has drivers built into the latest version of Hardy Heron…
After five hours (no, I’m not exaggerating) of beating my head against a wall I’m giving up for the night. I’m talking about right now having eighteen tabs open in Firefox, dealing with the OS and the card and who knows how many tabs I’ve closed trying to narrow the issue down, so you can’t say that I haven’t RTFM. I have, indeed, RTFM. Several times. I DID manage to finally get the OS to recognize the thing, so there’s that.
I’m sure most people are familiar with iwconfig, lsmod, modprobe, wpasupplicant, lshw, iwlist, ifconfig, lspci, dhclient, and the like so you know what I’m talking about. Yep, Linux is definitely not just for geeks anymore…
I feel horrible for writing this because generally I like shitty beer. That being said, wow. Calabaza Blanca is the worst beer I’ve ever had in my life. It really does taste like fermented goat piss. To answer your question: Yes, but I won’t explain how.
Bill Hicks…a true patriot and one hell of a specimen of human being. Bill took on some of my favorite subjects: religion, politics, advertising, raising children, and dick jokes. I actually owe a lot to Bill Hicks because he got me interested in subjects that I wouldn’t have pursued otherwise. Stuff like Jung and UFOs. Man, it sucks that he’s gone.
Michael Herring is working on a Bill Hicks painting that is fantastic. I’m also a fan of his web design philosophy that focuses on standards, usability, and accessibility. Way to go Michael!
My first thoughts on Google Chrome…fast. Very fast. Nice UI. Works well under Parallels also. Need to test more. Don’t think it will support extensions like Firefox but too soon to tell.
I’m sorry. It’s not you, it truly is me. I love all my friends/family/others/etc. and those that don’t belong in the previously mentioned categories, but I just can’t do it anymore…the Flickr, the Facebook, the Friendfeed…and any other alliterative-or-otherwise services that I may or may not use. I’m still here, just not, you know…HERE.
This was good shit man. On Union Street at Octavia. The dining room has high ceilings that give the place a spacious feel but I felt the noise level was a bit louder than it should have been. Noise be damned though, this was some good eatin’.
Chianti – they were out of stock of the kind I first ordered but since the wine list is pretty extensive there was no trouble finding another. Seems like a lot of great wines. The bar looked small but fun.
Insalata mista – pretty standard mista. Had walnuts, greens, some sort of soft cheese and a vinaigrette. Very nice and fresh.
Risotto with squid ink and scallops – very damn tasty. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the risotto was nice and black. The garnish sauce was good and was a very nice color, something between a tomato and a tomato truck.
Ravioli with buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto – hot damn! Cheesy, tomatoey, proscituttoey and ravioliey (yes, I have problems). These pockets of cheese and meat slide over your tongue and swan dive gracefully down your throat producing smiles and mmm-ing noises.
Brick-pressed chicken – wow. Didn’t know chicken could be so flavorful. Big chicken too, but tender, like some sort of Hulkinated chicken that has been beaten into delicious submission.
Cow short ribs – so delicious the cow must have been raised on a cloud of butter. This was beaten into delicious submission also. Like eating a piece of cow-flavored chocolate mousse. I don’t know why sandwiches of this stuff aren’t available.
Sicilian style cannoli – nice finish. Not too sweet because of the espresso creme but sweet enough. Went nicely with a tawny port.
